What is the Gaming industry?

Today the UK’s video game industry encompasses all aspects of the gaming lifecycle, from software and game development to the publishing and advertising of the finished product.

Whilst video games have been around decades, the industry has seen huge growth and innovation in the past 10 years, with the increase in console (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo), PC, mobile and immersive gaming helping to surpass the film and music industries when it comes to market size.

A broad and thriving sector, when we talk about the gaming economy, this includes a wide range of job roles and functions, including programmers, software developers, animators, marketers, graphic designers and much more. Some examples of companies within the video game market include development studios, media agencies, technology providers and publishers.
