We are disrupting the way that decisions are made about economic policy and investments, by using real-time data .  

Based in Leeds, we work across the UK with a wide range of national and local government organisations and private companies.  

Our growth into 2025 will include the development of the next version of our global product.  

The opportunity:

As The Data City continues its exciting journey, from a start-up to a scale-up, we are seeking an experienced Data Services Leader to join our dynamic team.  

In this pivotal role, you’ll support our customers to leverage our cutting-edge data infrastructure, bespoke analysis, and visualisation tools to gain actionable insights within minutes—redefining what’s possible when compared to the traditional methods that can take months or years that comes with retrospective reporting and analysis. 

About you:

  • A demonstrable specialism and background in economic modelling, economic policy, economic consulting, scientific or engineering research/consultancy or data science.  
  • Passion to work in a pioneering scale-up AI & Data Business based in Leeds. 
  • Experience in leading teams and working in a customer centric way.  
  • A passion for the web and how it works.  
  • Driven by quality and being part of a team that is building a world class technology business. 
  • Qualifications or Experience: 1st, 2nd degrees or work equivalent experience in data or computer science, marketing, science, engineering, math’s, economics, policy, business, social science or other data and research subjects. 
  • Experience of working in a busy environment with the proven ability to work under pressure. 
  • An interest in how the web has fundamentally changed how we access, use and share data. 
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to communicate and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Organised and methodical approach to task completion including good planning, prioritisation and time management skills. 
  • Able to research and work independently with strong attention to detail and commitment to fact checking own work. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a clear writing style. 
  • Data literate – we do not expect you to be able to use every data science package or programme – but we do expect you to be a practitioner and be able to, process and communicate with data using industry standard tools and packages. 

The role:

As the Data Services Lead you will be responsible and accountable for a team that : 

  • Provides support to our customers so that they get the most out of our product(s). 
  • Works with our R&D team to build new features that we know that our customers need. 
  • Delivers projects where we work with customers as their data partner.  
  • Leading the delivery and Quality Management of RSICs & RTICs.

  • This role is based in Leeds, it’s a collaborative role, therefore a minimum of 3 days per week in-person at our offices, working face to face with your colleagues.
