You can now filter, explore and download Certified B Corps™ directly in the Industry Engine.
Every company on the register is now marked as a B Corp or not. So you can search for B Corps the same way you’d search for anything else: filter by sector, geography or company size, and export what you find.

What is a Certified B Corp™?
B Corp certification is awarded by B Lab to companies that meet verified standards for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. To get certified, a company has to meet minimum standards across seven Impact Topics on the B Impact Assessment, including Climate Action, Human Rights, Fair Work, and Environmental Stewardship and Circularity. They then commit to legal accountability for those standards.
It’s not self-declared. It’s independently verified, and companies must show improvement over time – reaching milestones at three- and five-year intervals – to keep the status.
Think of it as the fair trademark for business, applied to the whole company rather than a single product.
For a sense of the movement’s scale, B Lab UK’s Take 10 report gathers data, insights and stories from ten years of UK B Corps, demonstrating how they outperform ordinary businesses while also delivering positive impact for people and planet.
Why does it matter for economic analysis?
B Corp status has become a useful signal of business intent. For researchers, policymakers, and investors, being able to isolate certified B Corps opens up questions like:
- Where are mission-driven businesses concentrating — by sector, region, or size?
- Are B Corps growing faster, surviving longer, or attracting more investment than comparable companies?
- Which industries are leading on responsible business, and which are lagging?
- How does B Corp density track against levelling up priorities, regional economic strategies, or industrial policy goals?
There are ~2.800 certified B Corps in the UK, ~0.025% of all companies. That small number is what makes it useful as an indicator. You’re not dealing with a broad, loosely defined category, but a group that has cleared a consistent bar.
Combined with The Data City’s sector classifications, you can cut B Corp data by real industry rather than SIC codes, which makes that kind of analysis a lot more precise.
Where to find it
Look for the “Certified B Corps™” checkbox in the filters panel on EXPLORE within the “Skills & Inclusion” -> “Inclusion” Tab. The same flag appears on individual company pages and carries through into any download you run, so the numbers stay consistent wherever you look.
A brief look at the stats
The ~2.7k certified B Corps employ around 189,000 people in the UK and turnover £48.4bn between them. Their combined GVA comes to £9.69bn, or £67.8k per employee. As a group they’re growing at an estimated 12.5% a year.
Money is moving too. 311 of them have raised £3.7bn in investment, and 233 have won £107m in Innovate UK grants.
The leadership data stands out. More than a quarter of directors at B Corps are women (2,540 of 9,360), 436 companies are majority-female founded and 353 are majority-female led. Whether that holds across sectors and regions is exactly the kind of question the filter lets you ask.

How we built it
B Corp status is sourced directly from B Lab UK, the organisation that runs certification in the UK. We link their certified company list to Companies House records using Splink, matching on company name, postcode, website, and incorporation date.
Three things worth knowing:
- Live certifications only. No applicants, self-declared, or “interested” companies — only active certification from B Lab UK.
- One flag, no drift. The filter, the company page, and downloads all read from the same value. The count you see in EXPLORE is the count you get when you download.
- The ™ is intentional. Certified B Corp™ is a trademark, so we keep the symbol throughout.
