A philosophy graduate, Alex has been running digital and tech businesses since 1999. Alex thrives on turning technology innovation into businesses that transform industries. Husband and father of three he enjoys being fit and Rum.

Tom Forth Head of Data

Co-founder and CTO, Tom leads the team that builds and maintains the Data City, data infrastructure, platform and products. Tom is also Head of Data at Open Innovations.

Tom manages the team responsible for data quality and data analysis at The Data City. The machine learning algorithms that define RTICs and much more are extensions of his PhD in computational biology and are continuing being improved and added to by the R&D team.

Paul Connell Executive Chair

Paul co-founded The Data City as a spin out from Open innovations in 2017 with the mission to create a software business that used open data the power of the web and machine learning and AI to help people, business and organisations use real time data to answer their questions about the economy and #KillAllreports.

He is an entrepreneur who has built Open Innovations into a 21st century Institution and co-founded The Data City in 2017.

His primary role as Executive Chair at The Data City is to provide the drive, direction and purpose for the business and support the executive team as the business grows rapidly.

Kelly Weston COO

With a background of over 20 years in various Client Services and Operational roles Kelly has worked with SMEs, PLC, Start-ups and established businesses.

At The Data City Kelly works with the Board on everything from strategy to delivery. A passionate believer in pushing yourself to the limit; Kelly ensures we have the brightest team to tackle the most complicated projects with focus, skill and attention to detail.

Emma Dickinson Chief Financial Officer

Emma is a qualified Management Accountant (CIMA) with 20 years post qualified experience and over 14 years’ experience of board/exec level finance and operations management, specialising in commercial finance.

Emma has experience in a number of different industries including manufacturing, retail and most recently 10 years in integrated marketing agencies. She thrives on developing strategy and commercial awareness within a business to drive performance and efficiency. 

Mitali Mookerjee Managing Director (UK)

Mitali has over 20 years’ experience in the business information industry, leading international teams and driving commercial growth for some of the sector’s most respected organisations.

Mitali began her career at Datamonitor, where she rose from Senior News Editor in the UK to Global Director of Partnerships & Alliances, managing reseller networks, negotiating multimillion-pound licensing agreements, and launching new digital platforms including the online Research Store. During this time, she worked in New York, signing over 50 distribution deals and expanding Datamonitor’s North American presence.

At Progressive Digital Media (now GlobalData), Mitali served as Managing Director of Commercial Development, founding a new business unit that became profitable within six months, increasing sales by 840% year-on-year, and securing partnerships with leading aggregators such as Thomson Reuters, LexisNexis, and Bloomberg. In these roles at Datamonitor and GlobalData, she oversaw teams in London, Manchester, Bangalore, and New York, while helping redefine how business information providers package, license, and monetise content, and contributing thought leadership at industry summits and forums.

Later, as Managing Director of Content Catalyst (Publish Interactive), she scaled a triple-patented SaaS platform used by global analyst firms to deliver research-as-a-service, further advancing innovation in research publishing and analyst workflow delivery.

Building on this foundation, Mitali has broadened her impact through entrepreneurship and community leadership. She is Founder of CastRooms, a music-tech start-up creating shared digital experiences to combat online isolation, and Chair of MAP Charity, where she has helped secure over £2.5M in funding to build Hope Foundry, a creative hub supporting alternative education in Leeds.

This combination of deep industry expertise, entrepreneurial drive, and commitment to community impact makes Mitali uniquely positioned for her role as Managing Director at The Data City, where she leads on strategy, growth, and innovation in the fast-evolving world of data-driven market intelligence.
