What is the Advanced Screens industry?

The Advanced Screens sector brings together companies applying advanced digital technologies within the creative industries. It covers a wide range of specialisms including real-time 3D rendering, virtual production, motion capture, spatial audio, holography, and AI-generated content.

These technologies are increasingly used in areas such as film and TV production, gaming, live performance, fashion, and cultural heritage. They support the creation of immersive and interactive experiences, often blending digital and physical environments in real time.

Despite growing rapidly, this part of the economy is poorly represented in traditional datasets. Existing classifications are often too generic or outdated to capture the full range of companies working in this space. To address this, we developed a new Real-Time Industrial Classification (RTIC) in partnership with BOP Consulting.

The RTIC offers a more accurate view of the sector as it exists today. It includes companies working across verticals such as motion capture and virtual production, AR and VR for entertainment, digital fashion, volumetric capture, and spatial computing.
