The Data City in 2026: Scaling Globally

In March last year, I wrote a blog titled 2025: Scaling New Heights. Less than a year later, I am incredibly proud to be writing this update to set out exactly how we are delivering on that vision.

The Data City is now truly a global business. We have established offices and teams working across Leeds, New York, and London, with a European base currently in the planning stages.

We’re not just expanding: We’re redefining global classification

We’ve successfully launched our US Joint Venture Company with Oxford Economics, and our Instant Classification technology is now being applied globally. With classification underway in Ireland, France, Germany and the US, the Industry Engine is entering a new phase of international growth.

It’s been less than a year since we announced our investment partnership with Oxford Economics, and, in that time, we’ve grown revenues to over £1.75m ARR, with annualised sales now topping £2.0m.

To support that momentum, we’ve continued to invest heavily in our team, which has grown to more than 30 people. They’re working hands-on, rolling out our technology with customers across government, finance, energy, real estate and investment.

If 2025 was about scaling new heights, 2026 is about redefining the horizon entirely

Our continued investment in R&D for our core technologies is already proving successful. We are seeing major improvements in the quality, speed, global coverage, and scalability across every part of the platform. This progress means that our mission, which is to build the new global industrial classification system – is becoming a reality.

If 2025 was about scaling new heights, 2026 is about redefining the horizon entirely. We are no longer just participating in the global economy; we are actively building the infrastructure that defines it. With our mission running ahead of schedule and our technology deployed across five major nations, we are on the cusp of realising our goal: establishing the first truly dynamic, global industrial classification system. The momentum and energy that I see across our business our partners and customers means that the best is yet to come!
