The opportunity
As The Data City continues its exciting journey from a start-up to a scale-up, we are seeking an experienced Data Services Leader to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you’ll support our customers in leveraging our cutting-edge data infrastructure, bespoke analysis, and visualisation tools to gain actionable insights within minutes. You’ll be redefining what’s possible compared to the traditional months or years associated with retrospective reporting and analysis.
About you:
- A demonstrable specialism and background in economic modelling, economic policy, economic consulting, scientific or engineering research/consultancy or data science.
- Qualifications or Experience: 1st, 2nd degrees or work equivalent experience economics, data or computer science, marketing, science, engineering, maths, policy, business, social science or other data and research subjects.
- Passion to work in a pioneering scale-up AI & Data Business based in Leeds.
- Demonstratable experience in writing and responding to public sector tenders.
- Able to research and work independently with strong attention to detail and commitment to fact checking own work.
- Experience in leading teams and working in a customer centric way.
- Data literate – we do not expect you to be able to use every data science package or programme – but we do expect you to be a practitioner and be able to, process and communicate with data.
- Experience in understanding the economic implications of data, with the ability to validate and clearly explain key insights in a simple and cohesive way.
- Excellent project management skills and ability to communicate and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a clear writing style.
- Experience of working in a busy environment with the proven ability to work under pressure.
- Organised and methodical approach to task completion including good planning, prioritisation and time management skills.
- Driven by quality and being part of a team that is building a world class technology business.
- Experience in delivering projects using agile methodologies.
Candidates with a background in economic consulting are particularly well suited for this leadership role due to their inherent ability to translate complex data into actionable economic insights for clients but we welcome all applications and backgrounds.
The role
Your day-to-day will include:
- Working independently throughout the entire tender process: from writing responses and engaging with the customer, to analysing the data and delivering actionable insights.
- Leading the extraction and articulation of economic insights for clients and internal teams based on our data.
- Choosing, briefing and overseeing the team (including yourself) that deliver these won bids.
As the Data Services Lead you will be responsible and accountable for a team that:
- Deliver projects where we work with customers as their data partner.
- Provides support to our customers so that they get the most out of our product(s) including sense-checking headline figures for published reports.
- Feeds back to our product team to improve features and shape new tools that we know that our customers need.
